Sandhill Psychotherapy
Welcome
At Sandhill Psychotherapy I offer a calm, intentional space set apart from the pace and demands of everyday life. Whether we meet in the office, outdoors, or through structured activity, the aim is the same: to create conditions that support reflection, clarity, and meaningful engagement with the work you are here to do.
This is a space for thoughtful, capable people who want to slow down, examine patterns, and move toward a deeper understanding of themselves and the way they move through the world. The work can be challenging at times, but it is approached collaboratively, practically, and with respect for your strengths and autonomy.
John Binkley, MFT-IT
I offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who value thoughtful engagement and practical insight. I bring a calm, stable, and engaged presence that creates space for collaborative, grounded progress. In addition to traditional in-office sessions, I integrate optional outdoor and movement-based work, including walking or other structured activity, when it meaningfully supports the work.
These approaches are used intentionally, not as novelty, and are designed to engage attention, body, and environment in ways that deepen reflection and integration.

Therapy Services
Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy at Sandhill is oriented toward growth, self-understanding, and intentional change rather than symptom management alone. This work is well suited for people who are functioning competently but sense that growth is possible, or that something is stuck, misaligned, or no longer working as well as it could.
Sessions focus on understanding patterns, values, and internal dynamics over time, with the goal of increasing clarity, coherence, and choice. The approach is collaborative and practical, supporting insight that can be integrated into daily life rather than kept abstract.
Relationship Therapy
Including couples therapy and marriage counseling, relationship therapy is offered for people seeking deeper connection, clearer communication, and more satisfying ways of relating. This work is not limited to crisis or repair, but also supports people who want to strengthen an already functional relationship or navigate periods of transition.
Sessions focus on relational patterns, emotional dynamics, and how each partner experiences closeness, distance, and conflict. The aim is to help couples develop greater understanding of one another and build ways of relating that feel more stable, responsive, and intentional.
Outdoor & Movement-Based Therapy
Some sessions may intentionally incorporate movement or time outdoors as part of the therapeutic process. This can include walking, light activity, or other forms of structured movement that support attention, reflection, and engagement.
These sessions are not recreational or novelty-based. Movement and environment are used thoughtfully to support insight, embodiment, and perspective, particularly for people who find that sitting in an office can feel limiting or overly abstract. Outdoor and movement-based sessions are always optional and guided by your goals and preferences.
Life Transitions & Direction
Many people seek therapy during periods of change such as when roles shift, priorities evolve, or familiar structures no longer fit. This work supports individuals and couples navigating transitions related to work, relationships, identity, aging, or life direction.
Therapy during these periods focuses on clarifying values, understanding internal tensions, and making sense of what is emerging. The goal is not to rush decisions, but to develop perspective and move forward with greater intention and steadiness.
Values, Identity & Self-Understanding
This work is centered on understanding how values, identity, and personal history shape the way you move through the world and relate to others. Over time, patterns that once felt adaptive may begin to feel constraining or maladaptive.
Therapy provides space to examine these patterns carefully and without urgency. Through increased self-understanding, clients often find greater alignment between what matters to them and how they live, relate, and make decisions.
Sex Therapy & Intimacy
Sex therapy is offered for individuals and couples who want to better understand their relationship to sexuality, desire, and intimacy. This work can address concerns related to communication, mismatched desire, sexual identity, or changes across different life stages.
The approach is grounded, respectful, and non-pathologizing. Sessions focus on understanding patterns, beliefs, and relational dynamics around sex and intimacy, supporting more open communication and a more integrated relationship to sexuality.
